A Full Day of Blessings
Literature
Evangelist Chris Faifer was excited to receive the first two
lead-card responses from the advertising he had done in Kenosha.
Both requests were for more information on the Bible Reference
Library (Conflict of the Ages plus Bible Readings for the Home).
With a prayer for God’s providential leading, Chris’s day began. At
the first address lead the family was not home, but Chris applied
the Acts 1:8 principle and decided to visit the neighbors and other
houses on the block.
Chris made many good contacts that day; the spiritual hunger in the
neighborhood was evident. One lady, Judy, whose arm was in a sling,
recounted to Chris how she “spent all her money on physicians”
without finding any relief. She appreciated Chris’s prayer for her
health, and she gladly accepted some literature.
At another door a voice called out from inside, “Who is it?” “The
Bible Story” Chris responded. Immediately Harold opened the door and
exclaimed, “I need a Bible!” God had already provided one for him. A
few days earlier, Brother Paul from the Kenosha Company had donated
several copies of the New Testament to Chris’ ministry. Harold was
thrilled to receive one of the Bibles, along with other study
materials.
By early evening the family from the initial address lead was home.
At the conclusion of the interview Regina and her husband Curtis
thanked Chris over and over. “‘Your visit has filled our hearts to
overflowing. Thank you for coming!”
The next card address lead was in an apartment complex. Reginald
stood outside his door in the hallway to hear the presentation. He
chose Peace Above the Storm. His prayer request was “for all men in
turmoil.”
Chris visited two other young families in the apartment complex: a
single mom, and a young couple with an autistic son. The couple
expressed their appreciation for the visit, prayer, and literature
that Chris left with them.
Chris’s last call of the evening was south of Kenosha, a call-back
to a family. The family was not home, so, seeing a bright light next
door, Chris knocked on that door. That young couple, Oscar and Olga,
explained how Oscar had been laid off from work, and how she was
battling a medical disability. They were skeptical about allowing
anyone inside their home, but were very interested in the books.
When Chris offered them a free copy of The Great Controversy he also
mentioned the C.H.I.P. program at Loma Linda University. Their
enthusiasm encouraged Christ to also give them a copy of Take Charge
of Your Health. They were ecstatic. When it was time to pray they
joined in.
“Why did you come to our house?” Oscar asked after the prayer.
“When the family we came to visit was not home, I knew that God had
led me to this street for a reason” Chris replied. “I prayed and was
impressed to stop at your house because of the bright light above
your front door.”
“When you first knocked on the door, my wife and I were skeptical.
But now we are so glad you knocked. We know God sent you. I don’t
know how to explain to you how I feel inside. I am so happy you came
and prayed with us. Thank you so much for these books! I am really
interested in this one on prophecy. We want you to come back.” Oscar
smiled.
In his devotional time that night Chris prayed, “Thank you, Lord,
for a successful day!”
