Over 100 Bible Study Contacts in Two Weeks!

One year ago, the church I pastor was laying plans for a public evangelism meeting. I suggested to our Church Board that we bring in Student Literature Evangelists. They agreed so we contacted Conrad McKnight, Youth Literature Director of the Review and Herald, who put us in touch with one of his team leaders, Kristina Reeve. Kristina brought twenty Student Literature Evangelists to our church district. They were with us July 6—July 20, canvassing beautiful Magabooks and finding in-home and correspondence Bible Studies.

The Student Literature Evangelists delivered more than $20,000 worth of Magabooks during just two weeks canvassing in our church district. In two weeks, they registered thirty-four people for in-home Bible Studies and more than seventy for correspondence. They gave thrilling experiences of the miracles they experienced each Sabbath to our church members. God blessed!

Our church members are now overwhelmed with joy. They are visiting the correspondence study interests and find they are as good as in-home interests. They are hand-carrying these lessons to the people, and are amazed so many are gratefully accepting the lessons!

My associate, Pastor Jim Zeismer, and I began following up interest cards the students gave us while they were here. One man who registered—John, an insurance adjuster—came to the door and said he was too busy doing a Bible Study with the Catholic Church. However, he took Storacles of Prophecy, Lesson 1.

John was impressed with the information in the lesson about Daniel 2. One week later I went back however John met me at the door and said, "You told me, when you were here, that you are a Seventh Day Adventist. Why are you doing what you are doing?" He said he did not want any more lessons.

I shared some things from Revelation 13 with him, about how important it was to know Jesus and that all will be lost, except those whose names are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life. John then said, "I want the lesson, [Lesson 2] but I do not have Lesson 1.” He confessed he had thrown Lesson 1 away.

I had the opportunity to go door to door with students. It brought back pleasant memories of the Magabook Program twenty years ago this summer. It was then that I learned as a Student Literature Evangelist myself, to depend on the Lord for help in every need. I learned that we should pray as we walked from door-to-door and when an objection was raised, pray for proper words to respond. Colporteur Ministry says, "Speak to this one or to that one of the love of Jesus. No sooner is the name of Jesus mentioned in love and tenderness than angels of God draw near, to soften and subdue the heart."(CM p. 112).

We are told the publications sent forth from our printing houses are to prepare a people to meet God. Basically our Student Literature Evangelists are doing the same work as John The Baptist, the forerunner of Christ. They are calling people to repentance. Thank God for the John the Baptist work of canvassing, to lead people to repentance!
