Brazilian Life and Health Magazine Celebrates its 70th Anniversary


In January 2008, Vida e Saúde (Life and Health), published by the Brazil Publishing House, will celebrate its 70th anniversary. It is the oldest monthly Brazilian magazine in circulation. Its primary purpose is to emphasize the importance of a lifestyle based on good health. Vida e Saúde is a colorful 52 page magazine. The Brazil Publishing House prints 72,000 copies every month.

Vida e Saúde has influenced many different readers' lives. Isabel Cristina, who lives in the Alto Paraju community in the Brazilian state of Espirito Santo, and her friends get together every month to read the articles, prepare the recipes, and practice the physical exercises in the magazine. According to Ms. Cristina, the "self-esteem of the group has lifted, and we all are enjoying better health".

In 2008, as part of the 70th anniversary, the Brazil Publishing House will launch a commemorative postage stamp, and will release 1 million copies of the special anniversary edition of Life and Health.
